At BFP, we believe good food should never go to waste, especially when it can make a real difference in people’s lives. Through #BfpGoodCauses with Fareshare Yorkshire, we were delighted to recently welcome our friends to BFP, where they collected a selection of our surplus products to redistribute to those who need them most.
Who are Fareshare?
FareShare Yorkshire is an incredible organisation committed to tackling food waste. Part of FareShare, the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors made up of 18 independent organisations, they help ensure good-quality surplus food from across the food industry reaches those who need it most.
Making a real difference.
The food redistributed is nutritious and perfectly good to eat, supplying nearly 8,000 frontline charities and community groups, this including school breakfast clubs, older people’s lunch clubs, homeless shelters and community cafés. Together, the network provides enough food to create almost a million meals every week for vulnerable people across the UK.
Our commitment to reducing waste.
For us, this partnership is about more than just redistribution. It reflects our wider commitment to reducing surplus, supporting out local community, and operating responsibly as a business. Food waste is a major global issue, and the environmental impact of sending edible food to waste is significant. By working with organisation like Fareshare, we can play out part in reducing that impact while helping to address hunger at the same time.
Looking ahead.
We’re always looking for ways to improve how we manage surplus and strengthen our impact. Supporting initiatives like this isn’t just good practice, it’s the right thing to do. By working together with trusted partners, we can reduce waste, strengthen our community, and help create a more sustainable and compassionate food system.
